Strengths: Easily removes lots of fur = reducing hairballs
Weakness: Some cats do not like it
This works great if your cat is cooperative. Ironically, my long-haired cat (who doesn't really shed) loves it, while my short-haired cat (who sheds quite a bit) hates it and tries to bite it. I usually spend some time following the short-haired one around the house until she gives up and lets me brush her. When I am able to brush her, this tool very effectively removes tons of fur. Strengths: Works well as a deshedding tool. Solid and well built.
Weakness: Cost. The blade is sharp(esp. the ends) so you need to be careful while you are grooming.
My vet pulled out a Furminator the last time I had my long-haired cat in for a check-up, and he pulled a huge wad of fur out of her in seconds. I decided then I needed to have one myself. After receiving it and using it on Lucy, it didn't seem to be nearly as effective when I was the one operating it. Lucy is not a very cooperative cat either which hasn't helped - she doesn't like to be brushed...

Furminator lives up to reputation!
Strengths: Works very well to get the loose fur off the cats.
Weakness: If pressing too hard, can hurt the animal because it is very sharp.
My cat had hairball problems and would throw up frequently but after using the furminator, there has been a noticeable decrease in her throwing up. I love it and would highly recommend it.
