The Porter-Cable 7424 6-inch variable-speed random orbit polisher gets the job done with an efficient random, swirl-free polishing action. The 7424 is powered by a 4 Amp motor that spins at variable-speeds of 2,500-6,000 OPM for a custom polishing job depending upon the power needed. The polisher features an ergonomically-designed handle that helps to increase leverage and also promotes a comfortable position while polishing. The 7424 model uses a spiral/bevel gear configuration that is very efficient and ensures reliable performance for year to come.

The benefits of a random orbital are great since you do not have to worry about damaging your paint , which is easily possible with a rotary buffer. Strengths: Lightweight, good power and speed range, orbital action, safe for the finish when used properly.
Weakness: A good collection of polishing pads will set you back as much as the polisher. Instructions are weak.
If you're serious about your car's appearance this is the tool to have, but for some reason Porter-Cable only offers one polishing pad. You will need to go to a third party (try autogeek.net) to get an assortment of polishing pads and bonnets to make this tool really versatile for various compound and wax applications.
